European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants launches a new look website

EFCNI or the European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants, is a European network which supports the exchange of information and communication on newborn infant care between European countries.

EFCNI was set up in April 2008 and for the first time, people from diverse disciplines, who are involved in the care of newborn infants and particularly preterm infants, have come together at a European level to elevate the need for one voice for preterm and newborn infants in Europe.

EFCNI aims to combine the strengths of European scientists, experts and parents' organisations in order to:

  • Ensure the best possible care of newborn and preterm infants in Europe
  • Enable the medical, psychological and social support for parents of newborn and preterm infants
  • Promote research and the implementation of measures which prevent premature birth
  • Improve the long-term health of newborn and preterm infants

EFCNI has already organised many successful projects for the families of preterm infants and neonatal healthcare professionals. These include the European Parents Forum, Prematurity Awareness day, a European benchmarking analysis report comparing neonatal care and outcomes across Europe, support for national parents organisations and many neonatal research award programmes.

EFCNI's most recent project was the launch of a new look, easy to navigate website, with sections dedicated to parents, healthcare professionals, supporters and policy makers.
